Carpet Part 1

I have been busy. Friday was hectic, but good. The carpet installers were supposed to come Wednesday morning, but they had to reschedule for Friday to do the first half of the house and they will do the rest on Monday. I so dreaded this installation, even though I want the new carpet. I still have this hang-up about strangers in my house and the anticipatory anxiety the last couple of mornings was absolute hell complete with flashbacks. After the flashbacks started, I envisioned that I would succumb to hiding in my bedroom on Friday (since it won't be re-carpeted until Monday). Surprise!! That is not what happened. I was up early (a little TOO early) and outside washing the windows on the east side of the building before the installers arrived. They were nice enough fellows and did a good job carpeting the common areas. I actually worked alongside them, though just out of their way so as to not interfere with their work. Though at a slower and slightly confused pace, I just kept doing what I was doing. And then... I went shopping for flowering plants to adorn the study area I am creating for my children. I usually dread shopping, but I had a nice time. Then I went out to dinner with the husband and kids. I think maybe Monday might be okay. At least I hope it will. I won't be able to hide in my bedroom if it isn't. The men will be in there laying the new carpet.

Maybe I will shop again this weekend. I need a good lamp for the children's new study area and looking for one will take my mind off of Monday and remind me of the goal. I think I will post a picture of this area when I am finished with it. I wish I had taken a 'before' photo because even though I am not finished, the difference is already dramatic. All that occupied this area before was a stray dining chair which housed our printer and a boring old sofa that no one ever sat on. The kids used the sofa as a place to dump their backpacks, jackets, gym clothes, etc. The window coverings were too much and no light came in. It was a truly dismal area. I am using the progress in there as a way to keep my vision alive. I'll let you know how it goes.
