Dear Visitor from Summit, New Jersey,

Hello and welcome! I see you found my blog and my sidebar by googling "cbt is traumatizing and invalidating". I understand. I get a lot of visitors to this blog who find me with similar searches related to cbt and dbt. You are not alone and I am sorry for your pain. Your pain is not invalid. I hope you will speak with your therapist about his or her approach or I hope you can find someone else who can help you figure out what would work best to help you instead of just hurting you some more. You don't deserve to be hurt. Speak up about this, friend. Your therapist might not even know that you are hurting in this way. And if they know and are rigid in their ways, I am here to tell you that you deserve to have what you really need to feel better. Don't let anyone tell you different. There is no such things as one-size-fits-all therapy. Well... actually there is and all the cool kids are doing it. But it doesn't usually work. Remember, you are not alone. My sidebar pals and I understand you. So do lots of folks who google their little hearts out in the middle of the night.

  1. I've recommended your blog and the sidebar links to several people I know that are dubious about CBT and DBT. With both techniques being so in vogue, it's refreshing to see a stand made against them. I just so deeply regret that you and others had to go through the pain they caused. As if you didn't have enough to deal with.

Hope you're keeping well, EH :)

    Take care

    Pan x

  3. Pan, I am glad you share with those who need support. It is one of my deepest wishes that we can all find ways to support each other. Your blog does the same. I love reading you.

I read about that, K. Very sad. AM made a great contribution. I know you are aware that she had a profound effect on me. I'm so glad I found her work. It has helped me so much.
