I'm going in. I'll be back when I can.

I got a new hard drive and motherboard in this computer a couple of months ago. Procrastinator that I am, tonight I finally got my Word 2003 reinstalled. Yes, I bought 2003 and XP when I bought this computer in 2008. And an external floppy drive, too. Cause I'm a dinosaur like that. I tried to install Word tonight, but... I don't know my way around the new media player that somehow got installed in here when I had the op system put back on the new hard drive (yes, it's still good old XP for me). I lost my patience with the intrusion of this new and supposedly improved media player and finally asked one of my kids to work it for me. My cute little techno kiddies. J installed my Word for me and didn't even make fun of me for listening to a cassette tape in the kitchen while she did it. Maybe she understood intuitively how hard it was for me when I eventually gave up my eight tracks? :-) Such a sweet kid. Now I can go back to using this shiny, round Microsoft Works disk thingie for what it was obviously meant for -- checking my lipstick.

And... what are word processors for again? Oh, yeah. They're for writing fiction. My last frontier when I'm at the end of my rope and have nowhere else to go to save my sanity. Crawl into the story. It beats running down the street naked and screaming, right?

Word.

Cause when you hear the call you got to get it underway.

And this song SO goes with my pink M.C. Hammer pants (which I still wear as pajamas).

  2. Well... I suppose I would be back in the 80s with a typewriter and some white-out.
