Well, I went to therapy on Monday instead of Tuesday this week for a good reason. There was a production at the twins' school Tuesday evening and there was no way I would miss it. I was a bit triggered at first, but I ended up having a great time.
A was in a skit that was written by the students. They did a great job writing and then... they seemed to have been thrown off somehow and forgot their lines. Enter my girl. What does she do each time it all goes wrong and she doesn't know what to do? She turns and looks at the audience and smiles. That great, big unembarrassed and infectious grin of hers, blinding white and ear to ear. She was instrumental in turning the darned thing into a comedy and an audience favorite. Along with the darling boy who kept making the props fall down. It was priceless. The lovely reviews via text messages started coming in before we even made it to the car afterward.
J was phenomenal. She is the only girl in her particular music class and I was very proud of her when they took the stage. The hub gave her one of his best guitars for the evening and she certainly did it proud. And she is no longer worried 'what people might think' of a girl in an otherwise all-boy band. And I think that is fabulous. It might be even more important than all the great things she is learning in her music class and private guitar lessons. She really has talent and I am glad she did not let what others might or might not think stop her from engaging with it. I can't WAIT to see her reaction when she sees what she is getting for Christmas. She's gonna freak. :-)
