Phobic Crap

Even the sweetest things in life can cause upset for me. I have a terrible disease phobia and I found a tick on one of the dogs. I freaked out. Crazy thoughts. Totally crazy thoughts. Though such thoughts are based on realistic concerns, they were immediately overblown and catastrophised. To make matters worse, the dog would not let me remove the tick and he readily plopped himself down on the floor in a way that denied access no matter how sweetly I encouraged him to stand up. I had to wait for the hub because... well, maybe they like him better or something. Anyway, the hub removed the tick with no problem at all. Of course I made him wear disposable latex gloves, wash his hands afterward, told him to rake the leaves in the backyard and I forbade him to take the dogs to the wooded area ever again. And I will be speaking with the vet to see if there is a better (and still non-dangerous) flea and tick prevention than what we are using. And just in case, I sealed the tick in a zip-lock baggie, dated it, notated which dog and body part and put the baggie in the freezer. If anyone gets sick, be they dog or human, we have a specimen for the lab. Then we'll see who's the spaz. Right this minute I am the spaz because I keep checking myself for fever, but if anyone really gets a fever or some mysterious condition? I have a specimen. Even spazzy people have their uses sometimes.

Pardon me, but I gotta go find something to disinfect. Jesus H.

Beautiful dog pictures are coming soon. I promise. Wait till you see how sweet and cute they are and then you will know why a germophobic hypochondriac like me just HAD to have them. They are two of the loveliest creatures I have ever seen.

  1. I'm glad your hubby was able to get the tic. We all have our phobias.

  2. Ticks give me the creeps too but not enought to stop me from having dogs or horses.
