When times get tough, people get defensive. And some people are just plain funny.

Tough week in the markets. I've been a little busy. The sleep thing... ugh. But for two days straight, three counting Thursday, I have HAD to be awake when the markets open. If I wasn't so tired, I'd fill you in on the details. Maybe later, huh?

Some humor for the meanwhile. I'll set it up for you. On stock message boards, there are actual helpful posts, and then you have your pumpers and your bashers. The pumpers are kind of like wildly unrealisic cheerleaders. Even when they are being chased by a steamroller, they will keep totin' the company line. The bashers are usually either pissed off because they have lost money and want to trash the stock, or they are fear mongering in hopes of spreading a panic for the purpose of buying cheaper shares. I read the funniest freakin thing. Guy #1 seems like a serious and concerned investor who asked about a real situation that is hanging up the share price of ABK. Guy #2 is a pumper. He no likey concerning real situations. :-(

These two go back and forth until...

Guy #1: "No guarantees yet with the sale of CDO's." (This is his concern in a nut shell.)
Guy #2: "You little azzwpe. you aint foolin no one." (Accuses #1 of being a basher who is only pretending to be a concerned investor.)
Guy #1: "Yeah, you're right. We're going to $12 tomorrow!!!! SOOOO .. pile on before its too late. BOO YAA MO FO's. PRAISE THE LORD! $50 by Halloween. GUARANTEEEEED!!!!" (This is a hilarious imitation of your basic pumper!)

I've been totally laughing my ass off on some of the finance boards. What a blunt bunch.

I'm stuck holding a day position overnight. Again. It plunged with the indices Wednesday and I had to send more money in after it to shore up my gains. They might be days away, though. Or, they might be tomorrow or Friday. Or... HUGE GAP UP IN AM!!!! SHORTS BETTER DUCK AND COVER. LONG$$ WILL BE RICH!!!! Hee hee! Sorry, couldn't resist poking a little fun at the pumpers myself!

So, how am I handling this little roller coaster ride? Well, a fellow trader thought of this song for me.

Isn't that sweet?

  2. Sounds like you have nerves of steel on this. WTG.

One of these days I'm going to have to clear my calendar and dive it--but it won't be today, lol. My nerves are shot right now. ;)

  3. Hi, Angel. Strangely, I guess I kind of do have nerves of steel in this arena. To be very honest, I think that is what draws me. As a person who suffers from anxiety and phobias, it gives me a weird kind of confidence to be able to be calm about something that everyone else is freaking out about.

That's probably warped in some way, but there ya have it!

  4. (Male) traders can be such frat boyz. ;D

I only read a couple of macro-blogs and I lurk at a trader-chat when the markets are open. I catch all the news/gossip a lot faster that way.

The teen boy mentality is alive and well there too.

  5. Hi, Amanda. It sounds like your trader-chat and my message boards have an awful lot in common!
